The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) came into force on 6 April 2015, replacing the CDM Regulations 2007. CDM 2015 covers the design and management of all construction projects in the UK, and applies to all new projects from this date.

While the definition of ‘construction work’ has not changed under CDM 2015, the Regulations cover many functions of facilities management, such as repair and maintenance (including painting and decorating), refurbishments, conversions, demolition, office cabling, and the installation, removal or maintenance of mechanical or electrical equipment attached to a building.
